adithya-aksajiYoung trophy-winner Akshaj Mareddy with his superstar friend, Adithya Ganesan

Seven-year-old Akshaj Mareddy (Clarksburg, MD) has watched his superstar older friend Adithya Ganesan play for the last 2 years. In that time he has seen Adithya travel across the United States. Adithya is ranked #28 in the nation and #1 in the USTA Mid-Atlantic.

Satyait Mareddy explains the impact of having his son look up to Adithya. “We have to make him stop playing! He would play all day if we let him.” Akshaj and Adithya both practice their tennis skills at the Montgomery TennisPlex as often as their parents can bring them.

Sunday, September 17 2017, now has a special asterisk next to it for the Mareddy family. It marks the date that Akshaj earned his very first tennis trophy! Akshaj competed in the USTA/MAS Intro to Tournament Play Orange Level 2 tournament at the Montgomery TennisPlex. In his very first USTA tennis tournament, Akshaj finished in 2nd place! Now he is ready to begin a tennis tournament career of his own, so watch out, Adithya!
