Jack Schore Tennis Takes 2017 Title for Second Year in a Row!

Citi Open “Stars of Tomorrow” Champions

TennisPlex Summer Campers Welcome the Trophies Home!

The Jack Schore Tennis Montgomery Tennisplex team won the coveted 2017 “Stars of Tomorrow” trophy at the 2017 Citi Open 10 & Under Championship Tournament. In a hard-fought finals match against the tough JTCC team from College Park, the TennisPlex prevailed to take the cup for the second year in a row!

This event features teams representing the strongest junior tennis programs in the Mid-Atlantic region. The players and coaches were honored on stadium court during the Citi Open finals.

Day Off from School “Match Play” Pizza Parties
New Format with More Match Play!
For Players 8 Years Old and Up

Join us for our new “Match Play” Pizza Parties for players 8 years old and up. Parties will be scheduled when schools have a day off, normally 1:00-4:00pm. Round-robin competitions will be set up at each ability and age level to provide match play experience. We hope to prepare our new players for team tennis and tournament play. Advanced beginner players must be able at least to serve and keep score for a game. More competitive  match play takes place with the older and more advanced players, so a good time is had by ALL! This is a wonderful opportunity to try out a new skill (new serve, slice backhand, net play…) and learn to compete. It’s also a great way to meet new friends and have FUN!

Cost: $17 at the door, or

 2016 USTA Early Development Camps

For Players Age 7 to 10

Maryland EDC Camp #2
“Net   Dominator”
Saturday, October 8, 2016, 1:30-6:00pm
Maryland EDC Camp #3
“All-Court Player”
Saturday, October 22, 2016, 1:30-6:00pm

Early Development Camps (EDCs) are an initiative developed by USTA National Coaches that focus on dedicated 7 to 10-year-old players. The goal is to bring together the top players in a local area for intensive half day Orange Ball training sessions. EDC Orange Ball Camp themes are Expert Rallyer, Net Dominator and All-Court Player. Serve & return training are incorporated into all camps.

Orange ball tennis (including ball, racket and court size), fosters learning in young players that proportionately mimics larger/older players on a full-size court. Ball-bounce height, number of steps to reach a ball, depth of shots, and shot patterns all shadow a larger scale platform. This is one of the most critical stages of training and the Section encourages young players to practice and play orange ball tennis for as long as possible.
